GEW donates UV system to Clemson institute.(INDUSTRY NEWS)

GEW Inc. has donated a seven-lamp ECP UV system with e-brick electronic power supplies to aid research and development activities at Clemson University's new Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics.

"In addition to supporting the educational missions of Clemson's Graphic Communications and Packaging Science programs, the Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics is playing an active role in driving packaging innovation in four key areas," says Chip Tonkin, director of the institute. "These include printed electronics, sustainability, consumer experience and holistic package design workflow. The ability to work with UV curable inks is an integral part of many of these research and education goals, and we are very excited to have GEW as a partner in this endeavor."

"We are delighted to have been able to contribute to this new venture with our ECP UV lamp system," adds Brian Wenger, president of GEW Inc. "The ECP is a versatile system suitable for curing a wide range of substrates and we are sure it will play a significant role in developing new printing and packaging applications."

GEW is based in England. Its US arm is in North Royalton, OH.
