* Terminix--the pest control provider that sends out trained professionals when bugs come in--is telling consumers they can do it themselves (sometimes). A unit of The ServiceMaster Company, the Memphis, TN-based firm is entering the DIY market with a new eco-friendly pest control formulation that will be sold to consumers through a special website, www.safeshield.com.
Engineered to target common household pests like ants, roaches, flies and spiders, Terminix SafeShield is the company's first foray into the direct-to-consumer market. It is being pitched as a complementary product to use along with regular professional treatments.
"Our product line is constantly evolving to ensure our customers get the most advanced pest protection available," said Tom Brackett, Terminix president and chief operating officer. "Consumers have made it clear they want a natural product, and we've listened. Our new offering will allow consumers to resolve their indoor pest problems quickly and responsibly with a product from a name they know and trust."
