Bradken's Chehalis facility adds welding, gains certifications.(North America)

Diversified manufacturer Bradken's Chehalis, Wash., metalcasting facility has added the ability to perform welding repairs and ship finished products directly to customers to its current capacity to produce military castings.

The facility, one of five domestic locations dedicated to the production and distribution of cast metal products owned by Bradken Ltd., Newcastle, Australia, has recently qualified several welders to perform the upgrades.

In September, the Chehalis facility will complete the upgrade of its quality management system registration to meet ASME requirements. Chehalis also will obtain certification for the manufacture and supply of nuclear components.

According to a company press release, Bradken's Atlas group of metalcasting facilities is one of only several domestic manufacturing groups that are qualified to make castings for nuclear applications. The Chehalis plant focuses on smaller, more complex designs and metallurgical alloys in the size range of 50-1,000 lbs.

According to the release, the new capabilities, in addition to having its Tacoma metalcasting facility and machine shop 45 miles away, will contribute to Bradken's ability to provide complete solutions to energy customers.

Bradken is a supplier of differentiated consumable and capital products to the global resources, energy and freight rail industries.
