AE Group closes U.S. location.(Around the World)

AE Light Metal Castings Georgia Inc., LaGrange, Ga., has closed, and its equipment was sold in an online auction on July 21.

According to a press release issued by online auction house Hilco Industrial LLC, Farmington Hills, Mich., the automotive aluminum die casting supplier is a division of Germany-based AE Group. The equipment that was to be sold included diecasting cells, a melting furnace, ancillary diecasting equipment, CNC machinery, inspection equipment and plant support equipment.

AE Group operates five other facilities in Germany and one in Poland. According to its website, the company employs about 1,600 in the production of "assembly-ready aluminum pressure-cast parts and components." In addition to supplying parts to automakers, the company makes some castings for aerospace customers.
