Foundation, research center target type 1 diabetes.

La Jolla's Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation said Aug. 5 it has entered into a research agreement with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to push treatments for type 1 diabetes into the clinic at a faster pace.

The four-year program will create a diabetes drug discovery and development platform that will begin with four or five projects, according to Peter Lomedico, JDRF's Director of Industry Partnerships.

Financial details of the arrangement were not released.
