Firefighters hope folks fill the boot for 'Jerry's Kids'.(SAN MARCOS)

The San Marcos Professional Firefighters Association-Local 4184 plans to hold its annual "Fill-the-Boot" fundraiser for "Jerry's Kids" on Friday, Aug. 14.

Off-duty firefighters are scheduled to collect donations from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the intersection of Rancho Santa Fe Road and San Marcos Boulevard to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and research to help find a cure for 40 neuromuscular diseases.

The Fill-the-Boot campaign also contributes toward equipment and supplies for families and patients to make life easier for those who suffer from muscular dystrophy.
