BacTech to drill Gowganda tailings for feasibility study.(IN BRIEF)(Brief article)

Taking another step towards its proposed bioleaching facility, BacTech Mining Corporation has engaged the services of Picton-based MPI Drilling to begin a sonic drill program on the Castle Mine tailing near Gowganda.

The 12-hole program will begin the week of July 6, and seeks to lay the groundwork for a feasibility study to determine the economic viability of the facility Drill results will be assayed and used for further bioleach work and metal recovery test work. They will also provide a better understanding of the metals distribution through the area as well as the depth of the tailings.

BacTech is investigating whether its proprietary bacterial oxidation technology can be used to process the arsenic-laden tailings throughout the Cobalt area. Partnerships have already been put in place with the Haileybury School of Mines to begin a bacterial oxidation technician program.
