EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
IN order to qualify for this year's Construction Companies List, firms had to either be headquartered in the San Fernando Valley or had to have projects in the area that are active or recently completed.
Of the 10 companies that participated last year, 9 of them chose to submit data again this year. While the rankings are similar to last year--save for the newcomers to the list--MATE Construction made a notable jump up the list, doubling its revenue generated in the San Fernando Valley Area from $32 million to $64 million.
THE PACESETTER
FOR the second year running, PCL Construction Services, Inc. heads up the list of Largest Construction Companies in the San Fernando Valley area. Headquartered in Denver, the PCL location in Glendale was originally a firm called A.T. Curd, bur was bought out in 1996.
Despite only working on some infrastructure improvements at CSU Channel Islands locally, PCL has quite the presence nationally and internationally--heading up projects such as the Fox Studios Parking Structure in Los Angeles, the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas, and many projects scattered throughout Canada. The company typically takes on bigger projects such as these, and has been recognized for building the Staples Center and the Air Canada Centre, where the Toronto Maple Leafs (hockey) and Toronto Raptors (basketball) play.
