A $10 million grant from the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) will enable the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute fund research and development for new therapeutics for cancer patients, including the development of oncolytic viral therapy products.
The research will come from the lab of John Bell, chief collaborator for oncolytic viral therapy at Jennerx Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company.
"This collaboration has been a great example of academia and industry working together to translate biological research into cutting edge therapies quickly and effectively," said John Bell, senior scientist at the Ottawa hospital Research Institute and professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa.
The grant will provide $10 million of funding over four years.
