1930: William Archibald Spooner. English clergyman and academic, who gave his name to the speech phenomenon whereby the first letters of words become amusingly transposed.

1982: Ingrid Bergman. Swedish actress. 1987: Lee Marvin. American actor, whose films include Gorky Park. Lee initially worked as a plumber's mate. He was unsuccessfully sued for half his fortune by his live-in girlfriend, bring the world "palimony" to the English language.
