Hero Halliday is Beam-ing; DTE Consett and District Sunday League.


GREG Halliday proved just the trick in front of goal as six-hitters Beamish A went on a scoring spree against Division One neighbours Stanley RAFA. Halliday helped himself to a hattrick in the 6-1 win and was joined on the scoresheet by Kevin Douglas, Stuart McPhail and Carl Greener, with Chris Youll replying.

Unbeaten champions South Moor FC were too strong for Consett Black Horse as Mark Scott and Daniel Craggs guided them to a 2-0 victory.

Mark Turner and John Lidster doubles were crucial for Consett Top Club as they saw off Consett Station Ex 5-2, Scott Thompson netting the other. It was a close affair at Consett Steel Club, who just edged out Burnopfield Sun Celtic 3-2. Two-goal Chris Connelly and Darren Pyke were the match winners, Dan Johnson and Aaron Robertson hitting back for Sun.

There were successive draws for promoted Craghead John Castles Inn, who were held 1-1 at home by Annfield Plain Demi, while Chopwell Central saw off AK Leisure 7-3. In Division Two, Blackhall Mill were 4-1 conquerors of Annfield Plain CC with finishes from Martin Gray, Alan Rennison, Gareth Powell and Craig Willis. Chris Baker, Paul Leighton and Craig Chambers were on the mark for Tantobie Oak Tree in their 3-1 home triumph over Consett Demi, for whom Bernie Lane replied.

Scott Summers nabbed both of the Newfield Inn counters, but they still lost out 4-2 to Consett No 1. South Moor Sports hit Blackhill for six, with Paul Wilkinson scoring twice.

Michael Brough was the star of the show for Dipton WMC with a stunning four-goal blast as his side just edged a 5-4 win at Chester Whitehills Pub.

Consett Fountain were 2-0 victors over Castleside WMC with strikes from Jamie Parkinson and Richie Carroll.

In Division Three, Shield Row beat Hamsteels 5-2 with Lee Rainbow and Chris Phillips bagging braces, while Chester Black Horse went down 4-0 to the Scotch Arms as Callum Thompson hit a hat-trick.

Carl McGuigan smashed four goals and Dane Marsland a hat-trick as Leadgate Golden Lion piled up double figures against Washington Oasis, while the Freemasons Arms defeated Glendenning Arms 4-2.
