Wilson have lots to Cro about after an easy win; Gateshead and District Sunday League.

FOLLOWING a midweek 3-1 defeat at The Peartree, the Thomas Wilson finally put Division One points on the board with a 6-1 victory at home to Leam Lane.

After a tight opening 20 minutes, The Wilson were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out - and Mark Croan curled the ball into the top corner.

The Leam were level soon afterwards with a ball over the top which caught out the back four, and McPhee in goal was helpless to prevent the equaliser from Nick Nicholson.

It was 2-1 to the home side before half-time when new signing Liam Pearson coolly chipped in from the edge of the box.

In the second period, The Wilson took control of the game with Scott and Jamieson working hard in midfield.

Pearson's through-ball allowed overlapping left back John Doughty to break through and score a debut goal.

Croan added his second of the game with a neat finish before substitute Boyle was brought down in the box and Croan completed his hat-tricfrom the penalty spot. The diminutive striker scored his fourth of the game late on, and there was still time for Boyle to go round the Leam goalkeeper - only to see his strike towards an empty net somehow cleared by an out-stretched boot.
