BASKETBALL stars are jumping through hoops to support a cancer charity.
Eagles captain Andrew Bridge and player Fab Flournoy are urging daredevils to brave the Big Zip over the River Tyne to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care hospice.
The 260m journey from the Tyne Bridge to Gateshead Quayside is taking place on November 1. Andrew said: "It is a pleasure to be involved with such a worthwhile charity, and we were only too happy to lend our support."
Suzanne McKenna, of the Marie Curie Cancer Care, which provides a free service for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses across the region, said: "We have already had a fantastic response.
"However, it would be great to top 200 participants to make this the most successful year ever." Registration costs just pounds 10 with a minimum sponsorship of pounds 150. To find out more, call (0191) 219 1234.
