A YOUTH club set up in memory of tragic teenager Hayley Adamson has been given a make-over.
The 16-year-old from Fenham, Newcastle, was knocked down and killed by a police traffic officer last year. PC John Dougal drove at speeds of more than 90mph without his siren or warning lights before ploughing into Hayley in Scotswood.
Her sister Sarah Ridley set up a youth club - called Hayley's Den - so her memory would live on as Hayley loved children and was always looking after her nieces and nephews.
Now Hayley's Den has been given a new kitchen, two laptops and six canvases for children to decorate with their artwork.
The donations have been made by community regeneration specialist Frank Haslam Milan North East (FHM).
Sarah got in touch with FHM shortly after the company carried out refurbishment work to her home as part of a wider refurbishment scheme on the Scotswood estate.
Sarah, 33, said: "The kitchen definitely makes a big difference and the kids are already planning to use the canvases to make signs pointing towards the tuck shop. "The youth club allows Hayley's memory to live on and it's very fitting as Hayley loved children and it was always her dream to work in childcare.
"The youth club's very popular and we have 250 members, maybe more, on an average Friday night we get between 60 and 100 young people.
"I'm so grateful to FHM for everything that they've done."
FHM is currently carrying out a pounds 35m regeneration scheme in areas of Newcastle including the Scotswood estate on behalf of Your Homes Newcastle .
Lorraine Green, FHM's resident liaison officer, said: "We were delighted to get involved in this project, as the community centre is used by a such a large section of the community. "It's also a fitting tribute to Hayley Adamson whose memory will live on through the children. As a company, we always strive to give something back to the communities in which we work."
