A NEW research report shows a direct correlation between "tensionrelated" pain among women and the speeding up of women's lives since the 1950's. The Post-Modern Tension Report reveals that more than seven in 10 women admit to suffering tensionrelated pain.
The report coins the term "Post-Modern Tension" or "P-MT" to describe the lifestyle-related tension pains that could be affecting nearly 14 million UK women.
It reveals that almost one in 10 women are now afflicted with tension-type pain every day, and more than half suffer it every week.
Almost two-thirds of women suffer tension headaches, but other common tension-related ailments include lower back pain, neck ache and shoulder ache.
The severity of the pain leaves more than one in six women unable to complete simple everyday tasks while one in three says it affects the enjoyment they get from their day. The P-MT Report, commissioned by Panadol Advance to better understand modern women's experiences of common pain, also reveals the majority of women "just put up with the pain" as part of normal life.
