Recoverable oil reserves in Qatar have been the subject of varied speculations. Independent sources put the recoverable oil reserves 27.5bn barrels, from 15 bn in 2007 and 4.7bn in 2000. They could rise 30-40% in the next decade.
Recoverable natural gas reserves have been officially estimated at over 910 TCF, consisting mainly of North Field non-associated gas. They are the world's third largest gas reserves next to those of Russia and Iran.
