The European Union says four Indonesian airlines, including Garuda, the country's flag carrier, will be allowed to fly to the continent again because of "significant" air safety improvements. The EU placed all Indonesian airlines on its international blacklist of banned carriers after a series of deadly air accidents in 2007. An EU statement says Garuda and the three other Indonesian carriers - Mandala, Premiair and Airfast - were removed from the list on Tuesday. Garuda plans to resume flights to Europe in 2010. Jet Airways
India's Jet Airways plans to launch daily direct flights from Hyderabad to Dubai from 16 August, its fifth daily service to the emirate from India. It will operate a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, the carrier says in a statement. It also has twice-daily services to Dubai from Mumbai, and once-daily services from New Delhi and Chennai. Kingfisher Airlines
Kingfisher Airlines released a "roadmap" for its future long-haul service comprising plans for eight new international routes. It currently serves London Heathrow, Colombo, Dhaka and Dubai from a variety of Indian airports. Daily flights from Mumbai to Singapore and Hong Kong will start in September aboard A330-200s. It has applied for New Delhi-LHR authority (to be operated with an A330-200) and plans to fly from the capital to both Bangkok and Dubai and from Mumbai to Bangkok, Dubai and Colombo aboard A320s/A321s. Kingfisher Airlines
India's Kingfisher Airlines is cancelling services from Bangalore to London and Colombo due to poor loads and yields, but is planning to launch eight other international routes by end-2009. The carrier says in a statement that it will suspend the Bangalore-London and Bangalore-Colombo flights from 15 September "with a view to ensuring optimal and efficient utilisation of its fleet" and after "looking at the booked loads and yields". However, it plans to start Mumbai-Singapore and Mumbai-Hong Kong daily direct flights from 16 September using its Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Korean Air, Boeing
A Korean Air Boeing 777-300 involved in a tail-scrape yesterday at Tokyo's Narita airport is grounded in Narita. A KAL spokesman in Seoul says at around 1230 yesterday, the 777-300 had a tail-scrape when it touched down on the runway after a flight from Seoul's Incheon airport. There were 367 passengers and 17 crew on board, says the spokesman, who added that no one was hurt in the incident. Jul 14, 2009
