A SENIOR Government minister has seen firsthand how the work of two North East companies is helping the battle against fuel poverty and climate change.
Joan Ruddock, Minister for Climate Change, joined up with GoWarm and Community Energy Solutions (CES) North East, both part of CES CIC Group of companies, on a visit to the region.
She saw how the projects are targeting their work to help some of the most vulnerable people in the North East.
She visited a home in County Durham which is having energy efficiency measures installed by the GoWarm team, before travelling to North Blyth to visit a community that has had air source heat pumps and solar thermal panels installed.
She said: "The fact that CES and GoWarm are joining together to deliver real solutions to fuel poverty, while also tackling climate change is a great example."
