THE first Gateshead tenant to move back into her upgraded home has given the improvements the thumbs up.

Jeanette Comrie's home in High Lanes, Heworth, is the first on the estate to receive an outside facelift.

Existing metal frameworks and concrete panels have been removed to make way for new support and an over-clad brickwork finish.

In total 42 properties will also have other improvements including new heating, wiring, windows, doors, kitchens and bathrooms.

Jeanette, 44, who has lived in the area for three years, said: "I have already noticed the difference with how warm the house now feels."
