THE number of people in the region using the National Pandemic Flu Service to report swine flu has dropped.
In the last week the amount of antivirals authorised by the service was 1,414, compared to 3,428 at the beginning of last month.
Martin Wilson, director of NHS flu resilience in the North East said: "We are continuing to plan in detail with colleagues across the region to ensure we are fully prepared for any further influx of cases and are currently busy testing local resilience plans with all NHS North East organisations.
"Members of the public can still help reduce the spread of this infection by practising good hygiene."
