Aero Cuenca
Aero Cuenca, on September 14th, will begin operating a new airline which will fly between Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Loja with an Embraer 145, with capacity for 30 people. The base of operations will be the city of Cuenca, with direct flights Quito-Quito-Cuenca, Loja-Loja-Quito with two direct frequencies from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday Quito-Macas-Quito, Quito, Machala, Quito, Cuenca Guayaquil-Cuenca. Subsequently cross-border flights will be increased to Cajamarca, Chiclayo and Piura, in Peru. Jul 21, 2009

Avianca, Airbus
Avianca has decided to keep an Airbus A330 featuring its new lie-flat business class product on one of its Bogota-New York flights and is planning to next introduce A330s on its Bogota-Barcelona route. Avianca in April introduced one of its four new A330s on a daily Bogota-New York JFK rotation. The carrier's managing director for North America and Asia, Rolando Damas, says originally the switch was temporary but Avianca has since decided to keep the A330 on the route. Jul 23, 2009

LAN Peru adds Cali (Colombia) as a new international destination which people will be able to arrive three times a week via Quito from August 15th in Airbus 319, with capacity for 144 passengers. Jul 28, 2009

Taca airlines
Since August 15th, Taca airlines will double its operation to Cusco offering two daily flights from and to Lima. This new flight will leave from Lima at 10:15 am, returning from Cusco at 1:25 pm. Jul 28, 2009
