Beginning September 14, 2009, North American passengers traveling to Guangzhou will be able to make the entire journey by air thanks to new service being launched by Cathay PacificOs sister airline, Dragonair. China Spree
China Spree is offering discounts of up to USD 400 on its comprehensive 12-day trip called The Middle Kingdom Tour, which covers Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. Clients can get USD 200 off departures from San Francisco until Oct. 31 and USD 400 off in November and early December -- bringing the November price down to USD 1,499, or USD 125 per day, which includes air to and in China, first-class hotels with private bath, sightseeing and entrance fees, 26 meals, evening entertainment, a tour director and guides, all transportation, baggage handling and more. Japan Airlines
Japan Airlines announced that the planned strike action scheduled to start today, June 17, 2009 by the four unions, JAL Pilots Union (660 members), JAL Labour Union (90 members), JAL Japan Labour Union (660 members) and JAL Flight Crew Union (1,150 members), have all been cancelled. Japan Airlines
Japanese Airlines is to cut frequencies on flights from Tokyo Narita Airport to Seoul, South Korea and Delhi and from Osaka to Seoul and Shanghai. The carrier said it would also maintain the already reduced frequency on flights from Tokyo to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. Weekly flights from Tokyo to Incheon will be cut from July 1 from 28 to 21 and to Delhi by four to three. Flights from Osaka to Seoul and to Shanghai will both by cut from 21 to 14 a week. Cuts on the services from Tokyo to Beijing (19 to 14), to Shanghai (28 to 21), Hong Kong (seven to three) and Taipei (28 to 21) were all introduced in March. Sichuan Airlines. Airbus
Airbus is set to deliver the first A320 to be assembled in China on Tuesday, a month after the aircraft had its first flight. Dragon Aviation Leasing will own the narrowbody aircraft, which Sichuan Airlines will lease and operate on its regional routes. A second aircraft is likely to be delivered in July and Airbus expects to produce 10 by end-2009. The production rate is expected to be ramped up to four a month before end-2011. The facility in Tianjin is the first A320 assembly plant outside Toulouse, France.
