JUDO queen Louise Little takes to the floor for her country this autumn - not once but twice!
The 19-year-old from Gosforth is part of the Great Britain squad for the European Junior Championships in Armenia from September 10-13.
Little, a member of Newburn Judo Club, then competes in the World Junior Championships in Athens from October 22-25.
Now based at the British Judo Association base in Dartford, Kent, the teenager will fight in the under-78 kilos category at both events.
She has represented Great Britain previously at cadet level, but this will be her first experience of international competition at this age group.
DELIGHT: Her father Brian said: "The standard of competition at both events is going to be extremely high.
"It will not be easy for Louise, but I am confident she will give it her best shot.
"Already in her short career she has travelled all across Europe for competitions, all of which have been a great experience for her - and that experience should stand her in good stead."
In January, Little became under-78kg champion at the British National Closed Championship, the top two in each category at the event going automatically into an A tournament from which the British Judo Association selected its squads for Armenia and Athens.
Little's coach at Newburn Joe Laws said: "I am delighted and so proud Louise has been called up.
"This is a reward for all the hard work she has put in over the years.
Laws "It is a fantastic achievement and Louise is really looked up to by all the young members here at Newburn.
"They can take inspiration from what she is achieving."
Little's call-ups continue a great year, which started with the Closed Championship victory and has since seen her finish a creditable seventh in her category at events in Russia and Germany.
