JAMIE Reece was so sick that he would probably not have survived ordinary chemotherapy before a bone marrow transplant.
His parents Rebecca and Paul Reece said they had little option but to agree to the new treatment being trialled at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Now their sickly little boy, who had been in and out of hospital since he was two months old, is a healthy fiveyear-old with so much energy they have nicknamed him "stuntman".
Great Ormond Street consultant Dr Persis Amrolia said: "A few years ago there's no way we could have transplanted a child as sick as he was."
