FORMER EastEnders favourite Michelle Collins was on Tyneside to host a special garden party.

The actress, best known for her soap role as Cindy Beale, hosted the bash to promote new Daz washing powder fragrances.

Another actress was dressed as the Queen for the event, after a survey by the washing power company revealed 72% of people admit to putting on airs and graces and smartening themselves up when they want to impress people.

The survey asked people what events they thought would be too "laah di daah" for them to attend, and the Queen's Garden Party was prominent on the list of replies.

So yesterday's event, at Gosforth Park Garden Centre, saw Michelle hosting a special garden party of her own alongside guest Cornelia Marsh, who is Newcastle's winner of a competition held by Daz offering places at the exclusive event.

The party featured party games, music, food and drinks.
