A STAGE school led by a talented Russian dancer is extending its reach.

Imperiya school, led by professional Russian dancer Ilya Andreyev, is set to open a new branch in Ponteland.

The move builds on the success of the school's existing branch in Whitley Bay.

From this month, Imperiya Stage school will be teaming up with Ponteland Leisure Centre, initially offering a series of free taster sessions, for children as young as three.

Ilya said: "We are very excited about this new venture. Since opening our Whitley Bay school we have had quite a few students travel from Ponteland, Darras Hall and the surrounding areas to take part in our stage school which has led us to team up with the Leisure Centre.

"Dancing is a great way for girls and boys of all ages and background to stay fit, improve their physical awareness and maintain a healthy lifestyle, as well as providing a fantastic social outlet for children to express themselves."
