Runner's ambition.

A TYNESIDE man is preparing to compete in the Great North Run to raise funds for epilepsy research.

Kevin Elliott, of Kenton, Newcastle, will take part to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action.

He will attempt the famous 13-mile race through Tyneside on September 20 to support the 456,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Kevin said: "Being diagnosed with epilepsy, as I was two years ago at the relatively late age of 40, came as a major shock. I have found the information and reassurances provided by Epilepsy Action a great support and comfort.

"The charity has also helped me understand that it is possible to lead a normal life with epilepsy.

"I consider it important that more people became aware of this largely misunderstood condition."

The money raised by Kevin will help fund the vital advice and information services.

Last year the organisation directly helped over 685,500 people through a range of services.
