PRINCE Charles is to visit Seaton Delaval Hall as a decision nears on whether it will be acquired by the National Trust.
The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall will be at the 18th Century hall on September 12.
They will tour the house and gardens and join a reception to thank members of the local community and supporters of The National Trust for their fundraising efforts to save the hall. In July last year, the National Trust launched a campaign to save Seaton Delaval Hall, its gardens and more than 400 acres of surrounding land from private sale.
A total of pounds 3m has been raised nationally towards the appeal's pounds 6.3m target, with almost pounds 1m coming from the North East.
Liz Fisher, assistant director of operations for the National Trust in the North East, said: "It is fantastic that the Prince of Wales is able to visit Seaton Delaval Hall to thank the local community for their fundraising efforts to save the hall. The support of everyone is vital to the success of the campaign."
