Promatory Communications and TollBridge Technologies have successfully tested for interoperability a proven, end-to-end carrier-ready solution for delivering toll-quality voice and data services using Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology.
Under the terms of the resulting partnership, TollBridge has joined Promatory's Toll Quality Voice (TQV) program designed to the ensure voice and data Quality of Service (QoS) in DSL networks.
"We have partnered with TollBridge to provide an end-to-end solution that enables carriers to deliver integrated voice and data services to small- and medium-sized business customers in a cost-effective manner," said Roger Dorf, president and CEO of Promatory Communications. "We are beating the curve in this competitive marketplace by offering a solution today that allows carriers to bring new value to their business-customer relationships."
"In a competitive marketplace, the carriers that are first to offer integrated voice and data in the small- and medium-sized business sector will have a distinctive advantage," said Gary Tauss, president and CEO of TollBridge Technologies. "Our relationship with Promatory will enable us to continue producing reliable, affordable solutions that position Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) securely in this lucrative market segment."
Proven Interoperable Solution
This integrated, end-to-end solution requires TollBridge's TB 50 at the customer premise as well as Promatory's Intelligent Multiservice Access System (IMAS(tm) ) and TollBridge's TB 200 Local Exchange Gateway at a carrier's central office (CO). The TB 50 packetizes voice and data traffic at the customer premise for transport over DSL. QoS parameters are assigned to both voice calls and data applications to guarantee quality performance.
At the CO, Promatory's IMAS terminates the DSL connections, providing concentration and ATM switching while maintaining full QoS support. While data circuits are switched to the data network, voice circuits are passed via high-speed DS-3 or OC-3 links to the TollBridge TB 200. The TB 200 unpacks the voice channels, converts them back into circuits, and passes the voice calls on to the Class 5 switch using the BellCore GR-303 protocol.
