DSPC LAUNCHES MANUFACTURER'S KIT FOR WIRELESS PHONES.

DSP Communications (NYSE:DSP), Cupertino, Calif., a one-stop provider of digital wireless technology solutions, has introduced its CDMA "one-stop" custom development-ready solutions kit enabling wireless handset manufacturers to introduce products within a matter of months. Handset manufacturers can access for the first time a complete solution including chipset, system software and reference design development for the CDMA global standard.

"Our customers increasingly require form-fit solutions designed for their unique product features and functions, not a one-size-fits-all solution," said Paul Washkewicz, General Manager, CDMA Business Unit. "As the pressures of time-to-market and design complexities increase, partnering with a one-stop technology provider is the key to success in the market."

DSPC's one-stop technology solutions are packaged as a "manufacturers kit" and include the ASIC, software protocol stack and reference design for developing next generation mobile phones. The kit features a cost-effective, flexible, modular platform designed to address stringent customer time-to-market needs and increasing design complexities.

The new program helps customers do the following:

-- Save design resources and accelerate time-to-market

-- Focus on innovation and differentiation of product lines

-- Use a single source for complete, customized hardware and software as well as technical support.

DSPC Reference Design

DSPC's reference design allows handset manufacturers to maintain high product differentiation and stay ahead of demanding consumer trends. Our complete handset design solutions, including RF, baseband, and man-machine interface (MMI) result in faster time-to-market, cost-effectiveness, and innovation. Reference designs are currently available for leading digital standards including CDMA and TDMA.

DSPC System Software

DSPC software is designed to easily integrate with proprietary baseband and MMI designs to increase data service capabilities in any mobile product application. A unique architecture employed by DSPC protocol products maximizes software portability, testability, and robustness while maintaining low power consumption and small memory usage. The software package supports IS-95A, IS-95B, IS-707, 637, 683 and other standards.

DSPC Chipset Products

DSPC's chipsets provide a flexible solution for multi-mode baseband processing for the CDMA standard. Connected through simple interfaces to the RF/IF unit, audio CODEC, and keypad, DSPC chipsets are optimized for use with DSPC architectures, call processing, data stack and special services software, and reference design.

Headquartered in Silicon Valley, DSP Communications is a leading independent developer and supplier of form-fit reference designs, chipsets and software to mobile phone manufacturers. DSPC develops, markets, licenses, and sells application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) based on digital signal processing (DSP) technology, software stacks, and reference design development kits for advanced wireless voice and data communications applications. DSPC wireless technology products support leading global standards for CDMA, TDMA, and PDC, and will also support emerging third generation (3G) standards such as Wideband CDMA and cdma2000. The company's customers include Cadence, Denso, Kenwood, Kyocera, Kokusai, Lucent Technologies, Motorola, NEC, Philips, Pioneer, Sanyo, Sharp, and SK Teletech. DSPC maintains a presence worldwide with offices in the U.S., Japan, Israel, and Canada. DSPC stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DSP. Visit http://www.dspc.com.
