THREE SERVICE PROVIDERS SELECT COPPER MOUNTAIN DSL SOLUTIONS.(Copper Mountain Networks, Lynxus, NETMCR, and Vanion)(Company Busi

Copper Mountain Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq:CMTN), Palo Alto, Calif., has announced three new service provider customers, Lynxus, NETMCR, and Vanion, that have selected Copper Mountain Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solutions for regional DSL service deployment.

The new customers not only augment the growing footprint of Copper Mountain-based DSL networks, but also demonstrate the diversity of multi-service DSL offerings being implemented today.

"The number of different deployment strategies and applications these innovative service providers have underway underscores the enormous momentum of the DSL market," said Rick Gilbert, president and CEO of Copper Mountain Networks. "What these providers have in common is confidence in Copper Mountain to meet their requirements for fast, cost-effective market entry for a variety of subscriber services over DSL."

Copper Mountain will provide equipment to Lynxus, NETMCR, and Vanion through its OEM relationship with Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU).

Lynxus (www.lynxus.com)

Lynxus is a national Internet Service Provider (ISP) based in Atlanta. The service provider is presently providing DSL services to multi-tenant buildings such as office suites, office lofts, and office buildings in the metro Atlanta area. Lynxus also has proposals pending to deliver DSL services to military bases and educational institutions throughout the Southeast.

"Lynxus was very pleased with how quickly we were able to install the CopperEdge(R) equipment and provision services for customers," said Tom Arcuragi, CEO of Lynxus.

"We were also impressed with Copper Mountain's CopperCompatible(TM) program, which delivers a range of third-party customer premise devices that are interoperable with the CopperEdge concentrator; this enables Lynxus to offer a range of competitively-priced access devices to our diverse customer base."

The CopperCompatible interoperability program, established in May of 1998, is an open customer premise equipment (CPE) initiative developed by Copper Mountain to foster a broad base of customer premise devices that are compatible with Copper Mountain's CopperEdge DSL concentrators. The initiative has the ultimate objective of providing effective end-to-end solutions for customers, accelerating DSL service roll-out, and improving end-user price/performance.

NETMCR Internet Services (www.netmcr.com)

NETMCR Internet Services is an ISP based in Greensboro, N.C. The company is using Copper Mountain's CopperEdge 150 DSL Concentrator to offer Symmetric DSL (SDSL) services to business customers in downtown Greensboro by using a 'near location' deployment model whereby NETMCR locates its DSL facilities near a central office (CO).

According to Nicky Smith, president and founder of NETMCR, "Once we saw the CopperEdge 150, we knew immediately that it was the best choice for us because of its ease-of-use and manageability. The system exceeded our expectations right from the start -- we received the first CopperEdge 150 at 11:00 in the morning and by 2:00 that same afternoon we had our first four customers online."

Vanion (www.vanion.com)

Vanion, a Next Generation Convergence Communications Provider based in Colorado Springs, Colo., selected the CopperEdge 200 DSL Concentrator as a multiservice platform for providing broadband services to rural, mountain, and metro areas in Colorado. The service provider plans to deploy CopperEdge 200s to offer broadband solutions to 26 locations over the next 18 months.

"We selected the Copper Mountain solution because of its flexibility in supporting multiple service offerings," said Joel Sparber, vice president of sales and marketing for Vanion.

"With one platform we can use SDSL, ISDN DSL (IDSL), and G.lite to provide flexible, customer-oriented solutions. The CopperEdge also allows us to serve individual small-business customers as economically as multi-tenant unit (MTU) customers. In smaller, more diversified markets, that level of flexibility and range of services in one platform is extremely important."

Vanion is a Colorado corporation that specializes in simplifying, connecting, and converging voice, video, data, and Internet communications over its Colorado based Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) backbone.

A Pragmatic, End-to-End DSL Solution

Deployed nationwide, industry-leading CopperEdge DSL concentrators deliver the high-bandwidth users desire, while concurrently supporting multiple services over DSL, including Internet access, voice services, corporate VPNs, and Frame Relay.

CopperView(TM) network management tools include configuration, fault analysis, and performance monitoring capabilities, offering service providers substantial savings in time, cost, and complexity in managing DSL equipment throughout the network from one central location.

CopperRocket and CopperCompatible CPE provide the industry's broadest range of innovative, competitively priced devices, ranging from low-cost bridges and routers to full-featured CSU/DSUs with advanced features for business applications and security.
