The results suggest that the biodata instrument used in this study could possibly be used for assessing service orientation as part of a selection program. This conclusion is strengthened by the real-life setting in which the data were collected. Biodata has some advantages over other inventories of service orientation because of its shorter length and behavioral base. The results also suggest that this biodata instrument may be measuring the Big Five personality factors which have shown to be related to job performance in a broad range of jobs including service positions.
Additional research was suggested in the relationship between the biodata instrument used in this study and the Big Five factors. Also suggested were validating this biodata instrument against actual work performance and examining the relationship between biodata and other job-related outcomes such as absenteeism and turnover.
