Delco Remy International, Inc., said it has acquired Auto Matic Transmission (AMT), the Scandinavian automatic transmission remanufacturer, based at Copenhagen, Denmark. AMT remanufactures automatic transmissions for both automobiles and commercial vehicles for the Scandinavian independent aftermarket, OE import and local.
AMT is specialized in Heavy Duty on and off road applications, and also provides a broad range of automotive applications for the European Light Duty aftermarket. Additionally, the company has developed an in-depth knowledge base for European designed and manufactured automatic transmissions, Delco Remy said.
AMT provides DRI with a European presence in the growing automatic transmission remanufacturing market, complementing the North American presence and product offerings of DRI- Williams, with whom AMT has a long-standing relationship, DRI said.
Hans Beyer Clausen, who continues as the general manager of AMT, founded the company 25 years ago. Clausen stated, "We are pleased to be part of the DRI group and are excited about the new opportunities offered by extending our markets to DRI's customer base."
The Delco Remy Europe Managing Director, Patrick C. Mobouck, said, "This acquisition strategically positions us into one of the fastest growing automotive remanufacturing markets. It accomplishes another milestone in our strategy to be the leading remanufacturer of automotive components."
