Delphi Automotive Systems said it signed a contract to supply energy absorbing steering columns to Ford for a future model. This is Delphi's first U.S. steering-related contract with Ford, Delphi said. Delphi has also won several other new steering contracts with other leading automakers in Europe, Brazil and India during the past six months representing nearly $75 million over the contract life, the company added.
Delphi's recent growth with Ford started with a contract to engineer and supply the first dual power sliding door system for the 1999 model year Ford Windstar minivan. Since then, Delphi said it has earned several other contracts with Ford, and continues to provide power sliding doors as well as energy & engine management products, transmission products, instrument clusters, electronics, electrical/electronic distribution systems, thermal products and sensors from 18 manufacturing facilities in Australia, Europe, Japan, North America and South America.
