Toyoda Machine Works Ltd., an affiliate of Toyota Motor Corp. , said it had won an order from General Motors to supply pumps for use in power steering. Toyoda Machine, owned 24.9 percent by Toyota, said its U.S. joint venture Toyoda TRW Automotive Inc. will supply about 70,000 pumps per year for GM's Cadillac Catera luxury cars. Toyoda Machine declined to reveal the value of the contract.
As a result of the deal, the company will supply car components to all of the U.S. Big Three carmakers, as it already does so for Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler , a Toyoda Machine spokesman said. The company aims to increase global sales of its power steering and other components to GM and other carmakers, he said.
Tennessee-based Toyoda TRW is owned 68 percent by Toyoda Machine, 22 percent by TRW Inc. and 10 percent by Toyota Tsusho Corp.
