Brazil's automobile production in the first half of the year reached 975,000 units, growing 21.2 percent over the same period of 2000, Brazil's National Automobile Factories Association (Anfavea) said.
In its monthly report, the Anfavea said that during the January-June period of this year, the car sales amounted to 868,000 units, representing an increase of 26.4 percent from that of the same period in 2000.
Meanwhile, Brazil's revenue from car exports reached $2.051 billion in the first half of 2001, with an 11.8 percent growth over the $1.835 billion in the first six months of 2000.
But the report added that Brazilian automobile production, sales and exports dropped in June as compared to last May. The statistics show that in June the assembly plants in Brazil produced 165,600 vehicles, a 16.3 percent reduction below that of May.
