Visteon Corp. secured global new business with DaimlerChrysler's (DCX) Mercedes-Benz Truck Division, and will supply instrument panels, audio systems and cockpits for current and future vehicles. Visteon said it is the largest instrument panel manufacturer in the world and has secured significant business with Mercedes-Benz to supply some of their forthcoming product ranges.
"We are very pleased with the growth of our business with DaimlerChrysler. They are driven by advanced technology and first class quality," said Jeremy Goddard, Visteon's Program Director for DaimlerChrysler. "Visteon provides them with a fine portfolio of leading technologies and the ability to supply these cost-effectively and on a global scale. It's a good fit." Visteon's relationship with Mercedes-Benz began in March 2000 and continues to grow. At that time, Visteon began supplying 24V audio units for the DCX Mercedes-Benz Heavy Truck Division for installation in the Actros and Atego.
Visteon said it applied expertise from its test and development facility in Laindon, UK. The 24V audios were developed incorporating functions, such as RDS traffic information, tape or CD drives, Visteon said. These are manufactured at Visteon's Palmela facility in Portugal, it added. Visteon's Palmela plant now ships 70,000 units each year to the Mercedes-Benz truck plants in Germany and Turkey.
