The Timken Co. said that it has acquired Lecheres Industries SAS, the parent company of Bamarec S.A., a precision component manufacturer based in France. Bamarec will operate as part of the Timken Precision Steel Components business unit.
"This acquisition is the next step in achieving our growth objectives for precision steel components in Europe," said Mark J. Samolczyk, president - precision steel components. "Operating under our existing European organization, Bamarec will provide the manufacturing base necessary to initiate our European business strategy while enabling us to better serve current automotive customers in Europe."
Bamarec operates two component manufacturing facilities in France -- one located in Fougeres, and a second in Marnaz. The company, a 100 year-old family-owned business, currently employs nearly 190 people and sold about $20 million in precision components for automotive and industrial applications last year.
