This milestone follows the announcement of Motorola as a new channel partner for distribution of TCS' Wireless Internet Gateway with Motorola's Message Register(R). TCS provides messaging technology to some of the world's largest wireless carriers including Vodafone, Verizon Wireless, Telefonica, and Qwest Wireless.
"The Wireless Internet Gateway provides carriers with a single location for enhanced messaging services," said Maurice B. Tose, president, chairman and CEO of TCS. "Carriers continue to look for ways to use messaging to enhance value, differentiate their services and increase revenue." The newest version of the Wireless Internet Gateway provides support for enhanced messaging services (EMS), such as the ability to download ringtones, information alerts, reminder notes and graphics, as well as enhanced functionality for subscribers with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) phones. In addition, the new release can relay SMS messages across multiple air interfaces, providing further support for intercarrier/multi-network messaging.
"This year alone, TCS has worked with three major U.S. carriers to develop their Short Message Service (SMS) portals," stated Tim Lorello, chief marketing officer for TCS. "This is a key indicator that carriers in the United States are beginning to determine how they can derive revenue from this innovative, yet well-established and accepted form of wireless data."
