British engineering group GKN Plc has been holding talks with BorgWarner Inc. in a move that could led to a $1.43 billion bid for the U.S. automotive components group, according to a British newspaper report. Chicago-based BorgWarner, currently valued at $1.3 billion, would be seen as an ideal fit for GKN's core automotive operations, the paper said.
The U.S. company, which employs 14,000, makes highly engineered components for engines, automated transmission systems and four-wheel drive systems.
