U.S. Tool and Equipment Builders Japan's Automakers Met in Japan To Review 2002 Vehicle Models.

A thirteen-member Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) delegation, lead by Technical Director Greg Potter, visited with Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Toyota in Japan during "Japanese Technical Cooperation Week," co-sponsored by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). This fourteenth annual meeting helped ETI member companies develop tools and equipment to properly service 2002 Japanese-branded vehicles sold in the U.S.

"Vehicles today have become quite complex. They contain high technology computer-operated electronics and more efficient emissions control systems. Our member companies want to ensure that American auto owners receive and depend on the highest level of service and quality control," Toshihiro Iwatake, Director General of JAMA's International Department said.

The briefings, held during December 3rd through 7th at the companies' manufacturing plants throughout Japan, provided ETI members with the opportunity to review 2002 vehicle models and ensure that new tool and diagnostic services will meet service requirements. This is a continuing effort to encourage interchange and understanding between car-related industries throughout the world, according to the sponsors.
