Continental Teves, a unit of Continental AG, said that it is the complete brake system integrator and supplier for the 2003 Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicle and for the 2003 Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle.
Continental Teves said it will manage and deliver the complete brake system, including rotors and calipers, four-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), brake assist and adjustable pedals.
The company also will supply an optional traction control and stability management system, called AdvanceTrac, it added. This system will enhance vehicle dynamics control and stability in all driving conditions. This active safety system corrects oversteer and understeer to help drivers maintain control of their vehicles, the company said.
The company will also provide air springs for the Navagator. The air spring system adjusts the height of the body based on characteristics such as vehicle speed and load conditions and also lowers the body for entry and exit.
Continental Teves said it will supply the brake and suspension system from its North American plants in Morganton, Henderson and Asheville, N.C., Culpeper, Va. and Silao, Mexico, as well as managing delivery of components from other suppliers.
