Sales of parts and accessories rose to a record $260.1 million in 2001, Toyota Australia said. Toyota said the result compared to sales of $252.4 million in 2000. Exports of parts and accessories were worth $13.9 million, up from $8.8 million the previous year.
Toyota said accessory sales contributed significantly to the growth as Toyota owners tended to customized their vehicles. The company said demand rose for alloy wheels, bullbars, towbars, body kits, springs and exhausts.
