TRW Automotive said it won a contract worth about $75 million from Toyota to supply the full foundation brake system for the new UK-built Toyota Corolla.
TRW said this contract brings annual sales for braking products to approximately $1.5 billion. This contract is TRW's first full foundation braking systems contract with Toyota, the company said. TRW said it has supplied braking components for the previous Corolla model.
Calipers and parking brakes will be supplied from TRW's plant in Pontypool, UK and actuation from its plant in Gliwice, Poland, providing these plants with substantial volume increases, the company said. In addition, TRW said it provides side impact crash sensors for the Corolla from its facility in Marshall, Ill.
