Sirius Satellite Radio, the satellite radio broadcaster, began the first phase of its national service rollout in four metropolitan markets, Denver, Houston, Phoenix and Jackson, Mississippi.
Sirius is in competition with already U.S. nation-wide XM satellite radio. XM channels originate from XM's broadcast center in Washington and are transmitted across the U.S. via two satellites. It is commercial free and users pay a monthly subscription fee. It was launched in September of last year.
