HITACHI DEBUTS TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED GUESTROOM TELEPHONE.

Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., Atlanta, has introduced its new technologically advanced guestroom telephone for the lodging industry, along with WelComm Release 9.1 software. The SelecSet 910 is Hitachi's fifth terminal introduction in their 900 Series of "Intelligent" Telephones. The family of telephones allows hoteliers to provide their properties/guests with the industry's most advanced technological features and benefits.

Joe Boeckel, vice president of PBX Business for Hitachi Telecom explained, "We're pleased to bring this technologically superior guestroom telephone to market. The phone is designed to allow up to two-digital and two-analog phones per guestroom using only one port from Hitachi Telecom's PBX. This provides older hotels with limited cabling the ability to offer two, two-line phones in a room without having to re-cable the hotel. We believe it will also reduce spending on additional telephone cable for new properties, while still providing 2-line functionality for guests."

An analog port on the SelecSet 910 can be used for an additional analog phone, fax machine or personal computer. Two guests can have separate conversations over one telephone line or use the second line to receive a fax or work on a computer. The SelectSet 910 also features a dedicated ring that can be used to signal an incoming fax. The phone has a large, easy-to-read 2 x 24-character LCD display and guests can make and/or receive telephone calls, even during power outages with the built-in power failure functionality.

"The entire family of SelectSet 900 telephones are designed to protect and grow our customers' businesses," stated Robin Giles, product manager at Hitachi Telecom. "In today's economy, hoteliers are reluctant to make large capital investments, such as rewiring their hotel for two telephone lines. However, they need to provide their guests with the latest technology to stay competitive. The SelecSet 910 telephone terminal addresses both of those issues -- providing a cost-effective and technologically-advanced solution."
