Guadalajara Division collects, donates toys: Committee
sponsors drive to benefit children.
The Guadalajara Division of AMERICAN CHAMBER/MEXICO recently
established a Corporate Responsibility Committee, whose goal is to
motivate AMCHAM companies to broaden their civic involvement and
actively promote a community-based agenda.
The committee is headed by Ernesto Iniguez, the director of
Keminsol and a member of the AMCHAM GUADALAJARA Board of Directors.
One of Iniguez's first actions as committee president was to
join forces with the Maquiladora Association (AIMO) in an effort to
donate 1,000 toys to disadvantaged children during an April toy drive
that was to end with a public event on April 30 (Dia del Nino). Four
charitable organizations have been identified to receive these toys,
which members were collecting and delivering to committee personnel
throughout the month of April. "We sincerely wish to promote social
responsibility among our companies starting with very simple gestures,
such as this toy drive," said Jaime Rabago, president of the
Guadalajara Division.
