Gleamd.com, Savannah, Ga, has released a public version of its people search website. The new site offers a great means for discovery and exposure to a wide range of interesting people. Users are invited to vote on biographies and related photographs, to upload entries about interesting people in a growing list of categories and to review the daily, weekly and all-time highest rated lists in each category.
"I wanted to create a new way to find cool people online," said founder Matt McInerney, a student at Savannah College of Art & Design. "With the new Gleamd.com platform our team just created, we are flexible enough to expand into whatever areas users want to go with people search. The response so far from users has been amazing."
The rapid evolution of Gleamd.com has played out in full view of McInerney's Internet audience. He has used Twitter, blogs and instant messaging to get real-time feedback from users - and investors. While the company is less than two months old, it has already attracted seed funding from Jon Callaghan and Burnt Norton. Gleamd.com is now talking to other Angel investors to ensure it will be able to keep up with users' demands.
