GETAC Inc., Lake Forest, Calif., a pioneering manufacturer of
Rugged computers that meet the demands of military and other field-based
applications, will showcase its line of versatile Rugged notebook and
tablet PCs during the MILCOM 2007 trade show.
MILCOM 2007 attendees had the chance to test drive the newly
introduced GETAC V100 Rugged convertible tablet and the GETAC P470
Rugged notebook. The V100 is a MIL-STD 810F and IP54 compliant notebook
featuring an LCD screen that instantly transforms into a tablet PC. The
highly portable 4.9-pound V100 features ultra-quiet fanless design and
includes a wide range of standard features, including a 10.4 inch
screen, power-saving 1.2 GHz IntelR CoreT Duo Platform Technology, 512
MB expandable to 2 GB of DRAM, 120 GB shock-mounted removable hard
drive, Integrated Bluetooth, reversible waterproof camera, and a full
menu of wireless networking capabilities - all housed in a water
resistant rugged magnesium alloy case and ready for mounting in any
military or other vehicle.
The V100 offers a variety of advanced options, including a 12-inch
LCD screen featuring a daylight readable screen and choice of digitizer
or touch screen interface, as well as optional Integrated GPS, 3G and
802.11a/b/g functionality that keeps users connected whether they are in
the office, in a vehicle or outdoors.
The GETAC P470 is designed specifically for users seeking a
lightweight, high-performance mobile platform that offers maximum
security, connectivity and basic protection against the daily rigors of
mobile computing. The P470 features a 14.1-inch Wide Screen XGA LCD
display with optional sunlight readable or touch-screen display and
includes a shock-mounted 120GB removable hard drive and sealed ports and
connectors within a magnesium alloy case that is vibration and
drop-shock resistant. Inside it features an IntelR CentrinoR CoreT 2 Duo
T7400 2.16Ghz processor with 4MB L2 cache and 1GB DDR2 (expandable to
4GB) for fast, reliable performance. Standard security features include
the TPM 1.2 Trust Platform Module, Kensington lock, fingerprint scanner
access control and Smart Card reader for worry-free secure transactions.
Also available are a full range of wireless options, including WWAN,
WLAN and Bluetooth.
"We are pleased to maintain our strong tradition of excellence
and innovation with the introduction of a wide range of new GETAC Rugged
PCs that meet and exceed the requirements and standards for ruggedness
set by the U.S. military," says Mike Simek, sales and marketing
director at GETAC, Inc. "We intend to continue to lead the way in
2008 as we introduce additional Rugged products and options that fit any
military need or application."
GETAC also displayed the popular Ultra-Rugged A790, the "Swiss
Army Knife" of Rugged notebook PCs with the ability to survive and
thrive in the harshest environments while providing extreme versatility,
expandability and security features in a MIL-STD 810F and IP54 compliant
package.
In addition to the A790, GETAC demonstrated the M230 Fully Rugged
notebook, which combines high performance and an extensive litany of
state-of-the-art built-ins and options in a Rugged, ultra-portable slim
design that also meets MIL-STD 810F and IP54 standards. GETAC had mobile
workers in mind when it designed the M230 with a 14-inch XGA or optional
15-inch SXGA TFT LCD high resolution display - the largest screen
available in a Rugged laptop format. Users will likewise benefit from
GETAC's optional ATI M54 chip, which provides all the additional
power needed for graphical applications.
The M230 also provides more storage (up to 120GB) than competitive
models and the ability to accommodate a wide range of plug-ins. Inside,
it offers an IntelR Centrino Mobile Technology and CoreT Duo L2400 1.66
GHz processor, 2MB L2 cache, and 512MB DDR2 (expandable to 4GB).
Outside, options include a sunlight readable display, touch screen,
waterproof membrane keyboard, TPM 1.2 and Kensington lock security
features, smart card reader and other upgrades. The M230 accommodates a
variety of wireless options and an optional GPS receiver. The entire
unit is enclosed in an attractive magnesium alloy case.
