"The Constitutional and Legal Rights of Women: Cases in Law and Social Change" is a new book published by Roxbury Publishing (Los Angeles, CA), now a unit of Oxford University Press (Cary, NC), that is designed to provide students with a basic treatment of the legal status of all American women. The book combines updated materials on constitutional law, gender discrimination, and women's rights with cases and readings on family law, gay rights and criminal law. It covers such issues such as constitutional interpretation, the scope of judicial power, the balance of federal-state power, the interaction between law and other social and political institutions, and the capacity of the law to effect societal change. It costs $58.
